It has been said that there is always the good, bad and the in between with everything. One can reflect on the endless possibilities which this speaks to and will find that it is indeed true. With this year’s recognition of teachers, one could not help acknowledging that while there exists the bad or not too good apples among our teachers, there are those who truly go beyond the call of duty to develop our young and in some cases, old minds.

Professor Adrian North, Academic Advisor to B&B University College, Kingston, Jamaica and also Director of Psychology at Heriot Watt University, in his recent study, found evidence showing that the choice of food by restaurant customers can be determined by the music being played at that time.

A maybe exhausted topic one might say, but also one which many of those who endorse it have little or no clue about; of course apart from the obvious, lightening of the skin’s tone. With the intensified popularity and signs of the phenomenon becoming less taboo, it is important that people become aware that the cons of ‘bleaching’ far outweigh what are considered to be its pros.

Is there a correlation between music and personality?

As music becomes more diverse in its genres and content, so does the controversy surrounding its influence. There has been several discussions about the effect music is having on youth, with the argument on one hand being that among other things, it has corrupted values and led to violence, homophobia, materialism, poor morals, misogyny and low self-esteem.  While contrary to this argument is that Entertainers/ Artistes are merely reflecting in their music, what they see in society or what music lovers like to hear.
