The Participation, Attendance and Performance Scholarship (PAPS)

PAPS is a sponsorship programme by B&B University College, developed in July 2009 to assist and recognize the hardwork of students. The programme allows students who perform excellently in their study to receive assistance with the tuition fees for the course being done presently or a course to be taken in the future. Details of the Scholarship programme have been given below.

Eligibility

Scholarships are awarded on the basis of demonstrated academic merit, demonstrated high attendance record, and an assessment of participation in class. Each scholarship has specific eligibility criteria. In general, you are not eligible for a scholarship if you:

  • -Miss three or more classes for the semester
  • -f your participation level is low or nonexistent
  • -If your passes are below the grade A
  • -Have received an equivalent award, scholarship or salary for the purpose of   enrolling in a program.

Duration

Scholarship payments continue for the duration specified in the offer letter, subject to ongoing satisfactory progress. The maximum duration of a scholarship is the equivalent of the course be taken.

Heriot Watt Management Programme

The Heriot-Watt Management Programmes comprises of 12 modules. The scholarship will cover only one module per year. All factors of eligibility will have to be met to qualify. Students will have to reapply for the scholarship yearly as assessments will be done every year. Therefore, students will have to maintain high standards through the course to remain eligible.

ABE Diplomas

  • Diploma in Business Management
  • Diploma in Human Resource Management
  • Diploma in Marketing
  • Diploma in Travel, Tourism & Hospitality

The ABE Diploma covers nine courses and has a duration of 1 ½ years. The student has the option of choosing how many courses he/she takes per semester. The scholarship will cover only one course of the nine. The course that is covered will be based on the decision of the student. The scholarship will be applicable to the third semester based on the student’s eligibility which is analyzed by the Programme Officer and Student Affairs Officer. The performance, attendance and participation of the student during the first two semesters will determine the final decision made.

The Certified Information Systems Auditor Examination (CISA)

Students who successfully complete this course can apply for a Scholarship to start the second course, (CISM). A third (1/3) of the tuition will be paid by the college if the student meets the requirements of the scholarship.

Certified Administrative Professional Exam (CAP)

Students who successfully complete the course will be qualified for entry to the Heriot-Watt University Management Degree Programme. Along with the exemption from one module, if students are eligible for a scholarship, conditions mention in Section I above about the degree will apply.

Forms Involved

Scholarship Application Form (SAF)

All students who waish to apply for a scholarship must complete and submit the SAF in order to be considered for assessment for the scholarship. SAF is available at the main office.

Scholarship Extension Form (SEF)

Candidates may apply for a scholarship extension of up to the equivalent of 6 months full-time enrolment within the training period. This option is only available to ABE and HWU students.

To receive an extension, you must demonstrate that you have been making satisfactory progress and that submission of the SEF is due to circumstances that were beyond your control. You can receive an extension on the grounds of ill health, employment commitments, or other non-academic circumstances. Evidence of your situation will have to be submitted with the SEF and it must be endorse by your manager or doctor in writing.

Approval Process

All applications will be analyzed within a three-day period after being submitted by each applicant. No applicant will be approved until all exam result have been published, because the results will affect the decision made.

On approval by the Student Affairs Officer and the Programme Officer, the applications will be reviewed and signed by the Programme Director.

All applicants will be notified via email and/or telephone call to communicate their status in regards to the PAPS.
